Coaching is a way of getting from where you are now to where you would like to be. That might be a relatively small thing, like becoming more focused, or something much more significant, like changing career. It takes the form of a conversation. Your coach will ask questions and give you the space to think about your answers, so that you can thoroughly explore what it is that you want, what can help you achieve it and what might stop you.
Sometimes it can be fairly straightforward. The outcome you want to achieve at the start remains consistent throughout your sessions, and you end up with a plan of action that you are committed to and able and willing to achieve. At other times, you may be surprised to find that, through your coach’s careful and insightful questioning, what you thought you wanted is not what you really want. And that might have been the very thing that was stopping you achieving it!
It is a journey of exploration that is solution focused. It is not therapy or counselling, because your coach doesn’t seek to treat your past, but focuses on your present and future, to help you achieve your potential.
